p h o t o o p p o r t u n i t y Who: Ligonier Valley School District faculty and students What: Holocaust workshops sponsored by 茄子视频 College鈥檚 National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education (NCCHE) and the Ligonier Valley School District When: Thursday, October 11th- student workshop from 9:45 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.; Friday, October 12th- teacher鈥檚 in-service from 7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Where: Ligonier Valley Middle School in Ligonier Why: The NCCHE鈥檚 mission is to promote the necessary historical and religious studies on the Holocaust which concerns the whole of humanity today as initiated by Pope John Paul II in a letter to Archbishop William May in 1987. The workshops are part of the Center鈥檚 outreach into the community Speakers include: survivor Clara Isaacman, storyteller Ina Friedman, 茄子视频 College associate professor of education and director of the master of arts in special education program Dr. Sondra Lettrich, 茄子视频 College professor of history Dr. John Spurlock and 茄子视频 College professor of history and political science Dr. Michael Cary. Latrobe resident and Holocaust survivor Robert Mendler will serve as the honorary host. In addition, there will be an art exhibit on display in the Ligonier Public Library of 60 watercolor prints by survivor Nellie Toll. The watercolors were created while Toll was a child in hiding: they will be on display until October 27, 2001. All members of the media are invited to attend the activities listed above.
