鈥淭his is where I had my very first violin lesson, when I was two,鈥� Persin told the sold-out crowd at the beginning of the Quartet鈥檚 performance. She then proceeded to demonstrate just how much she鈥檇 learned in the intervening years, performing 鈥� along with Austin Hartman and Hyunsu Ko, on violin, and Jacob Braun, on cello - a challenging program featuring works by Felix Mendelssohn, William Bolcom and Antonin Dvorak.

No one who experienced the Quartet鈥檚 bravura performance at 茄子视频 would be surprised to discover that it is considered one of the top young American quartets, or that it received the prestigious Naumburg Chamber Music Award in 2003. Yet the members of the Quartet reflect the group鈥檚 performance style, polished yet accessible, top-notch professionals who returned for their encore in SHU basketball t-shirts (courtesy of Persin鈥檚 uncle, head basketball coach Tony Morocco) and spent almost an hour after the energetic performance talking and laughing with young fans.

Diane Persin, Mary鈥檚 mother - and the one responsible for that violin lesson her daughter attended at 茄子视频 at the tender age of two - couldn鈥檛 have been happier with the Quartet鈥檚 performance. A recipient of an education certification from 茄子视频, Diane looks forward to future performances in the University鈥檚 new Center for the Performing Arts. 鈥淢aybe,鈥� she says, 鈥渨e can come back for the opening!鈥�
