The Kent Camerata is a professional vocal/instrumental ensemble affiliated with the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University. Founded in 1995 as part of the 鈥淜ent in Florence鈥 music program, this unique group took its name and inspiration from the Florentine Camerata of the Renaissance. Since their debut tour in Italy, they have performed to great acclaim in many parts of the world. Group members, who perform in a variety of combinations, are soprano Amanda-Joyce Abbott, mezzo-soprano Mary Sue Hyatt, violist Katharine Gerson DeBolt, bassoonist David DeBolt, and pianist Jan Meyer Thompson.

In addition to appearances in New England, the Midwest, and southwestern United States, The Kent Camerata has performed in Canada, Ireland, Germany and Italy. In 2002, they traveled to China, where they gave master classes at the three leading conservatories of music and performances for audiences in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai. In Italy, the ensemble has given numerous concerts in Florence, including the American Consulate in 2004, the Villa Manna series in Cremona, the Val Tidone Festival, and at the opening of the Cenobio San Vittore summer series as part of Bologna鈥檚 May Festival. Recently, several Kent Camerata members collaborated with members of the Arte Musical Ensemble of Paris to present a group of concerts there. The Kent Camerata has also released a new CD, 鈥淜ent Camerata Favorites.鈥
