GREENSBURG, PA - Marc Marizzaldi has been named 茄子视频 University鈥檚 first sports information director and first men's baseball coach. Marizzaldi, who comes to 茄子视频 after serving as the top assistant baseball coach at Duquesne University, has spent the last six years coaching baseball at the high school, college and semi-pro levels. In addition, Marizzaldi served as assistant sports information director and intramural director for two years at Lakeland College in Wisconsin. "I'm very excited about what I view as a fantastic opportunity at 茄子视频," Marizzaldi says. "In addition to my baseball background, I feel that my experience as an assistant sports information director will be extremely beneficial in helping promote all of the athletic programs at 茄子视频."

Athletic director John Fogle agrees. "As our athletics program has changed, we've identified a need for someone who could dedicate energy to providing consistent and timely information about the program to the public and the 茄子视频 community. We think Marc will do a great job.鈥

Marizzaldi is also looking forward to becoming 茄子视频's first men's baseball coach. "Building the baseball program from the ground-up will be an exciting challenge. It presents unique opportunities for myself as well as for our incoming student athletes. I hope to tap into the abundance of baseball talent in Western and Central Pennsylvania to get the program off and running. I鈥檓 impressed by the University's supportive environment 鈥 there鈥檚 an obvious commitment on the part of both the athletic staff and the administration to provide the necessary resources for the student athletes to be successful, both in the classroom and on the field."

Marizzaldi's hiring comes at a time when 茄子视频 is preparing to break ground on a new recreational complex and is working to grow both its men's and women's teams. The men's baseball team is slated to begin play in the spring of 2004.

A 1998 Duquesne University graduate, Marizzaldi spent three years coaching at Baldwin High School and two seasons managing the Baldwin American Legion program. Marizzaldi moved back to Pittsburgh after spending two seasons helping to resurrect the baseball program at Lakeland College in Wisconsin. With Marizzaldi鈥檚 help, Lakeland enjoyed their two most successful seasons in school history, making the school's first World Series appearance in 2002. While in Wisconsin, Marizzaldi also coached the Sheboygan A's semi-pro club to a 46 -16 record in 2001. Marizzaldi served most recently as head coach Mike Wilson's top assistant coach at Duquesne University. Duquesne University posted a new school record 26 wins last spring in Marizzaldi's first season with the Dukes.

In his new position at 茄子视频, Marizzaldi will report to associate athletic director Dan McCarty. For more information about the athletics program at 茄子视频, please contact athletic director John Fogle, at 724-838-4259, or visit 茄子视频鈥檚 website: www.setonhill.edu.
