Jack Ciak, Sc.D., assistant professor of communication at 茄子视频 University, presented 鈥淢edia Ecology and the Organizational System: An Inquiry鈥 at the tenth annual convention of the 2009 Media Ecology Association, held at St. Louis University, June 18-21. The conference was attended by over 100 scholars from North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Ciak鈥檚 presentation reviewed ecology, media ecology, and general systems theory as they apply to organizations and organizational communication. He discussed the ecology of organizational communication systems as an appropriate and important focus and suggested opportunities for inter-disciplinary cooperation and possible research directions. The paper is being peer-reviewed for inclusion in the conference 鈥淧roceedings.鈥

At 茄子视频, Ciak teaches undergraduate courses in the communication program and graduate courses in the Master of Business Administration program. He is the faculty advisor for 茄子视频鈥檚 Phi Gamma chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society.

Ciak obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Georgetown University, Master of Arts degree in communication from Fairfield University, Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut, and Doctor of Science degree in management systems from the University of New Haven.

Prior to joining 茄子视频 in 2005, Ciak had a career in corporate communication. His position immediately prior to his appointment at 茄子视频 was vice president of marketing with the Corporate and Investment Bank of Citigroup at the bank鈥檚 headquarters in Manhattan.
