The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) awarded a grant in the amount of $11,500 to 茄子视频 University on July 18, 2008. This grant will support two drug and alcohol abuse education initiatives of 茄子视频鈥檚 Alcohol and Other Drug [AOD] Prevention program.

In the coming months, 茄子视频鈥檚 AOD Prevention Specialist, Kimberley Cook, will be working with 茄子视频 faculty members to develop materials on alcohol and drug abuse for 鈥渋nfusion鈥 into existing curriculums. 鈥淔or example,鈥 explains Director of Counseling, Disability and Health Service Terri Bassi, 鈥渁n economics class may investigate the cost to the economy from alcohol or other drug abuse; a psychology class may look at the personality development impact of substance abusing families.鈥

In addition, the Alcohol and Other Drug [AOD] Prevention program will administer the American College Health Survey to 茄子视频 students. This annual anonymous survey provides the program with information concerning the behavioral health practices of 茄子视频 students. The data gathered by the survey informs programming and counseling activities.

A total of 68 organizations throughout the state received grants from the PLCB in July to aid in the prevention of underage and high-risk alcohol use. Of those organizations, 27 were colleges and universities.
