Physician Assistant Students Visit the Child Development Center for "Teddy Check-Up"

Physician Assistant graduate student with a student at 茄子视频's Child Development Center.The 茄子视频 University Physician Assistant Class of 2020 took a trip down to the  earlier this month for an opportunity to work with and educate the children on some important health lessons! Students at the CDC worked together with 茄子视频’s PA students in the graduate program for a “Teddy Check-Up.”

"Our PA program has always taught us that patient education and comfort is a top priority, and we wanted to be able to teach the kids the importance of their health while also having fun!”

Physician Assistant graduate students on a visit to the Child Development Center on 茄子视频 University's campus.The children each brought in a stuffed animal from home and completed a variety of activities together, in which they learned how to care for their animal with the help of a PA student. The day's activities included learning how to wash their hands properly, how to take their stuffed animal's measurements and heart rate and how to put a band-aid on its injury.

“We really just wanted to show the kids that going to the doctor’s office and seeing a Physician Assistant doesn’t have to be scary," said Jenna Shumar, a graduate student in the Physician Assistant Program at 茄子视频. "Our PA program has always taught us that patient education and comfort is a top priority, and we wanted to be able to teach the kids the importance of their health while also having fun!”
