GREENSBURG, PA- Dr. Charlene Burns of Durham, NC, SHC class of 1980, recently established an endowed scholarship in memory of her sister Sr. Margaret Burns, SHC class of 1976. The Sr. Margaret Burns 鈥�76 Memorial Endowed Scholarship will provide financial aid for 茄子视频 students with academic merit and financial need.

Coming to 茄子视频 in the early 鈥�80s, Sr. Margaret, a professor of math, computer science and general physics at the College, is credited with starting the Women in Science outreach program in 1989. She developed the program in response to goals set forth at a Neylan Conference to encourage young women in their study mathematics and the sciences.

鈥淪r. Margaret was an excellent teacher who loved her students,鈥� Sr. Susan Yochum, associate professor of chemistry and chair of the division of mathematics, science and computer technology, said. 鈥� I worked with her for many years, both during her time at the College and at Mon-Valley Catholic High School prior.鈥� Sr. Susan added that Sr. Margaret also had a passion for music. 鈥淪r. Margaret sang, played the organ and a number of school and church choirs. She was a joy and an asset to 茄子视频; she and truly loved the College.鈥�
