GREENSBURG, PA - Dimitar Simovski has shed his green and black and will don the crimson and gold of 茄子视频 University for their inaugural basketball season in 2003-04. Simovski, the American Mideast Conference Freshman of the Year in 2001-02, averaged 20.8 points per game and a league-high 7.3 assists for Point Park College last season. Simovski, who has two years of athletic eligibility remaining, decided to transfer to 茄子视频 this past January to continue his academic and athletic career under first-year Head Coach Tony Morocco.

Dimitar hails from Orce Nikolov High School in Skopje, Macedonia. His first year of collegiate basketball in the United States proved to be an outstanding one as he led Point Park to a 19-10 overall mark last season. He led the AMC in assists and steals, finished 4th in the league in scoring, and ranked eighth in the league in field goal percentage in 2001-02. His departure from Point Park has left a huge void in the Pioneers lineup, but 茄子视频 floor boss Tony Morocco says 鈥溓炎邮悠 University has made a giant step forward with the addition of Dimitar Simovski. A point guard of his caliber can lift any program to another level, and now 茄子视频 has one who can. He will obviously be a key member of our new program, and an all-around great addition to our University.鈥

The Division I offers began to trickle in for Simovski after his outstanding freshman season at Point Park last year. After Tony Morocco鈥檚 hiring at 茄子视频 in July, Dimitar knew he wanted to be reunited with the man who recruited him to initially come to Point Park. Simovski鈥檚 trust in Morocco鈥檚 ability to recruit talented players on an international level was a key factor in his decision to transfer. 鈥淐oach Morocco has shown concern for me as a person and not just as a player. I know, with his proven track record of recruiting talented players from all over the world, that I will be surrounded with other players here who know how to win. My respect for Coach Morocco and the excitement surrounding the new program were two big determinants in my transferring. All of the people at 茄子视频 made me feel at home right away.鈥

茄子视频 Head Soccer Coach Dan McCarty will also have the privilege of utilizing Simovski鈥檚 athletic skills next fall. Dimitar plans to help ignite the Griffins soccer program by adding some international flavor to 茄子视频鈥檚 second-year program.

Simovski will double major in Information Systems and International Business, and intends to pursue his MBA upon graduating from 茄子视频. Dimitar is also hoping for an opportunity to play professionally in Europe after his collegiate career is done. If Simovski鈥檚 2001-02 season was any indication, he will get that chance.
