茄子视频 University will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with an educational program for all members of the 茄子视频 community on Thursday, January 26 and a day of community service on Saturday, February 4. (As the majority of 茄子视频's students do not return to campus from their holiday break and J-Term experiences until January 23, the University elected to celebrate this holiday after January 16.)

Education Program: 鈥淭ake A Stand: Understanding the Dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. through Rosa Parks and Others鈥 Thursday, January 26, 2006

茄子视频 students, faculty and staff will participate in an educational program from 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in Cecilian Hall featuring a presentation by 茄子视频's Theatre Department and a discussion led by a panel of 茄子视频 students and alumni.

Day of Community Service: 鈥淭ake the Day On,鈥 Saturday, February 4, 2006

In keeping with Dr. King's commitment to service, 茄子视频 University annually coordinates the 鈥淭ake the Day On鈥 day of community service for the 茄子视频 community in his honor. This year, 茄子视频 students, faculty and staff will be volunteering with the American Red Cross, Christian Layman Corps. Thrift Store, Habitat for Humanity, Welcome Home Shelter and Westmoreland Food Bank.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

Blessing and event send off for all volunteers: 8:30 a.m. Lowe Dining Hall on 茄子视频's campus. 茄子视频 service at volunteer sites: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Neither event is open to the public.
