Concert to take place Thursday, November 3

茄子视频 University will present the renowned piano duo of Joanne Rogers and Jeannine Morrison at 7 p.m. on November 3 in Cecilian Hall on 茄子视频's Greensburg, Pa. campus. Tickets are $10, or $5 for 茄子视频 students, faculty, staff and Sisters of Charity. A wine and sweets reception will follow the concert in the Parlors on the second floor of 茄子视频's Administration Building. Joanne Byrd Rogers and Jeannine Romer Morrison began performing together in the 1950s while students at Rollins College Conservatory of Music. Rogers, the widow of the famed 鈥淢r. Rogers鈥 of PBS' 鈥淢ister Rogers Neighborhood,鈥 earned her master's degree studying with Ernst von Dohnanyi at Florida State University. (A composer, pianist and conductor, Von Dohnanyi served as the conductor of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra for 25 years before coming to the United States in 1949.) Morrison, named the 2003 鈥淥utstanding Teacher of the Year鈥 by the Georgia Music Teachers' Association, earned her master's degree at Teachers College at Columbia University studying with the eminent teacher and pianist Edwin Hughes. Together, Rogers and Morrison have performed more than 300 duo recital concerts, with a repertoire consisting of classical, romantic and contemporary literature for piano duo and duet, as well as concerti for two pianos. They have also recorded two CDs, 鈥淒uo Piano Favorites鈥 and 鈥淒uo Piano Virtuoso: A Virtuoso Duo Piano Showcase.鈥
