Grant to support the University Center for the Arts in Downtown Greensburg

Greensburg, PA 鈥 The Directors of the Hillman Foundation have awarded a $250,000 grant to 茄子视频 University in support of its University Center for the Arts, which will be built in downtown Greensburg.

鈥淪o many people have helped us with this dream, from the time when it was just a dream,鈥 said 茄子视频 University President Dr. JoAnne Boyle. 鈥淲e鈥檙e very pleased to count the Hillman Foundation among our generous supporters.鈥

茄子视频 University鈥檚 new $11.5 million Center for the Arts includes an interconnected flexible theatre building and a recital hall for premier academic programs in music and theatre. The Center is being created through a partnership of 茄子视频 University, the City of Greensburg, the Westmoreland Trust and the Greensburg Salem School District. The Center will help revive the Greensburg cultural district by building on the momentum of the recently restored and renovated Greensburg Train Station, Palace Theatre and historic Stark and James buildings.

To date, $8.5 million 鈥 including a $5 million appropriation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, over $1 million in private gifts and grants, and $2 million earmarked by the 茄子视频 Board of Trustees for architect fees and site preparation 鈥 has been achieved toward the $11.5 million University Center project goal.
