GREENSBURG, PA 鈥� As the 茄子视频 University Men鈥檚 Soccer program jumps into their first season in the American Mideast Conference, Head Coach Dan McCarty continues to build with the best local talent in Westmoreland County. Mike Kruszyna, a senior forward from Hempfield High School, is the latest standout to join the new Griffins soccer program. Kruszyna becomes part of an outstanding recruiting class that includes Penn Trafford鈥檚 Eric McKeever and Chris Fawcett.

Kruszyna鈥檚 credentials mirror those of Coach McCarty鈥檚 other top recruits. A four-year varsity starter, Kruszyna was named All-Section three times. This past season Mike earned All-WPIAL accolades, as well as section Co-Player of the Year in 2002. Kruszyna finished his career at Hempfield with 36 goals and 31 assists.

Kruszyna saw a few advantages in choosing 茄子视频. 鈥淚t鈥檚 very close to home and it has the small college atmosphere I was looking for. With the soccer program being new, there鈥檚 an opportunity that is both exciting and challenging to me,鈥� says Kruszyna.

Head Coach Dan McCarty sees Kruszyna being a key ingredient for the Griffins success next year. 鈥淗is speed is his greatest asset. He will cover a lot of ground for us and will bring a tenacious approach that you don鈥檛 see in many high school players,鈥� McCarty says. 鈥淲e have some outstanding players already with our program. By adding some high caliber recruits, our expectations for next year have risen dramatically.鈥�
