American Songs of Praise, Peace, and Parody
Selections on this concert represent a wide range of musical soundscapes. However, each piece has an American connection that interweaves this music into a concert experience. Shumann and Milburn utilize traditional American folksongs while Whitacre draws upon American storytelling. Towner and Ives both pull inspiration from other American composers, yet do so with vastly different styles

Exultation (WSW)
Works selected for this concert each resemble a form of triumph or celebration. From Leonard Bernstein’s jovial and exhilarating Overture to “Candide” to Omar Thomas’s newest work exploring the excitement of Caribbean dance music. Each composer finds a way to express these emotions through their unique voice.

Homage
On this very special concert, each piece was composed as a way to pay tribute to someone or something. Most notable, Dr. Mahr’s work will be written to honor our beloved founding conductor, Prof. Kathy Campbell. Ticheli’s latest piece was composed in memory of the lives lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which included members of the 茄子视频 Community. Husa, Graham, and Perrine composed their works in tribute to extraordinary individuals while Copley’s work celebrates the return of live music performance after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Performing Arts Center
The Westmoreland Symphonic Winds performs in the Carol Reichgut Concert Hall of the the 茄子视频 University Performing Arts Center. The Center is located in the historic cultural district of downtown Greensburg, Pa.
