茄子视频 Students, Alumni "Take the Day On" with Service Efforts in Greensburg, Pittsburgh February 8

茄子视频 faculty, staff and students will volunteer at 15 community organization sites in the Greensburg area on Saturday, February 8, 2020 as part of the University鈥檚 annual day of community service known as 鈥淭ake the Day On鈥 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. At the same time, alumni from the Greater Pittsburgh Alumni Affinity Chapter will participate in a service project at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in Pittsburgh.

One of Martin Luther King Jr.鈥檚 favorite questions was, 鈥淲hat are you doing for others?鈥 In keeping with Dr. King鈥檚 commitment to service, the 茄子视频 community annually participates in a community service day each February.

茄子视频 volunteers will participate in service opportunities from 8 a.m. to noon at a variety of nonprofit organizations throughout the Greensburg community, including:聽Animal Friends of Westmoreland County; Caritas Christi; Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity; Greater Parkview Church; Greensburg Care Center; Greensburg-Hempfield Public Library; Overly鈥檚 Country Christmas;聽Rewind-Reuse Center and Workshop; St. Emma鈥檚 Monastery;聽Stoneybrook Therapeutic Riding Center; Welcome Home Shelter; Westmoreland Parks and Recreation, and the YWCA.

At the service sites, community members will clean, organize donations, care for animals and work with the elderly among a number of activities planned.聽

Alumni from the Greater Pittsburgh Alumni Affinity Chapter will participate in a service project at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's Produce to People program, a large-scale distribution event that increases fresh food access for neighbors in need. The service project in Pittsburgh will begin at 8 a.m. on February 8 and will connect alumni to the larger 茄子视频 Take the Day On events.聽
