������Ƶ faculty, staff and students will volunteer at 15 community organization sites in the Greensburg area on Saturday, February 8, 2020 as part of the University’s annual day of community service known as “Take the Day On” in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. At the same time, alumni from the Greater Pittsburgh Alumni Affinity Chapter will participate in a service project at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in Pittsburgh.

One of Martin Luther King Jr.’s favorite questions was, “What are you doing for others?” In keeping with Dr. King’s commitment to service, the ������Ƶ community annually participates in a community service day each February.

������Ƶ volunteers will participate in service opportunities from 8 a.m. to noon at a variety of nonprofit organizations throughout the Greensburg community, including: Animal Friends of Westmoreland County; Caritas Christi; Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity; Greater Parkview Church; Greensburg Care Center; Greensburg-Hempfield Public Library; Overly’s Country Christmas; Rewind-Reuse Center and Workshop; St. Emma’s Monastery; Stoneybrook Therapeutic Riding Center; Welcome Home Shelter; Westmoreland Parks and Recreation, and the YWCA.

At the service sites, community members will clean, organize donations, care for animals and work with the elderly among a number of activities planned. 

Alumni from the Greater Pittsburgh Alumni Affinity Chapter will participate in a service project at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's Produce to People program, a large-scale distribution event that increases fresh food access for neighbors in need. The service project in Pittsburgh will begin at 8 a.m. on February 8 and will connect alumni to the larger ������Ƶ Take the Day On events.
