Ariana Scott ‘22 was recently featured in a Tribune-Review article about her time spent in Africa this summer working on clean water projects.��

Scott, who is working towards her master’s degree in international development and public health at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, earned degrees in sociology and political science from ������Ƶ.��

In June, she took a 13-hour flight from New York to Kenya and traveled across the country for seven weeks working on various water-related social and academic internship duties.

The internship, made possible through Pitt’s Center for African Studies, focused on community-managed borehole water projects, which are alternative sources of clean water for communities that do not have access to county provided water.

During her time at ������Ƶ, Ariana was on the Model United Nations team and was a Millenium Fellow working with a team of other ������Ƶ students on sustainability projects. She was also an Eva Fleischner Scholar with the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education at ������Ƶ.

Ariana was also featured on the as a recipient of the 2023 Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship. Scott and Elliot Harrison-Lee of Brown University were selected to receive the scholarship out of a pool of almost 300 applicants.��
